Cleveland bass lessons and guitar lessons. Online bass lessons and guitar lessons.

Are you ready to unlock your full musical ability? With over 30 years of cumulative teaching experience, I can help you become the musician you always wanted to be. While taking an inspired and playful approach, I am up to date on all standard methods and materials. I’ve developed several unique approaches to enable maximum growth and unlock your full musical potential.

I have helped students successfully win auditions to undergrad & graduate music programs at Berklee, Oberlin, USC, NYU, CalArts, University of Miami, University of North Texas, as well as CSU (where I currently teach) among others- including the Air Force & Army bands.  Many former students play professionally locally and abroad.

Allthough I draw heavily upon my own professional experience, lessons are custom tailored to each individual based on interests, needs, goals, and learning styles. All ages and styles/genres are welcome, as well as all levels (beginners through accomplished players wishing to up their game).

I offer face to face lessons in the Greater Cleveland Area- with access to teaching spaces on the East side, West side and Downtown. I also offer virtual lessons for musicians that are outside Northeast Ohio. Rates range from $75-$100/hour depending on location and delivery method.

Don’t hesitate to contact me, and let’s get started.

Double Bass

As a classically trained double bassist, I have a wide variety of technical approaches that will help you master the instrument. Sight reading, bow technique, intonation, and posture/ergonomics are just a few of the topics we will tackle.  As an active jazz musician, we can also cover what is need to become a fluid improvisor, as well as develop time/feel/pocket and cover the stylistic intricacies needed on the gig.

Electric Bass

As my first instrument, I have several unique approaches to learning the electric bass. Studying different styles/genres of playing, applying theoretical concepts, fretboard mapping, left hand & right hand technique, as well as sight reading and rhythmic development will help you get the gig you’ve been hoping for.

Guitar

All though my primary instrument is not guitar, I grew up in a guitar culture.  I have always studied guitar and have a lot to offer- as evidenced by my past successes as a guitar instructor. Fretboard harmony, chord voicings, scale shapes, chord melody, improvisation approaches, etc. are just the tip of the iceberg.
